Cabimate (“Cabimate”, “we”, “us” or “our”) provides custom cabinet making, wardrobe design, cabinetry repairs and related joinery services in Melbourne, Victoria. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and store it, and the choices and rights you have. It covers information collected through our website (cabimate.com.au), through our contact and quote request forms, and through the course of quoting, delivering and invoicing projects for our clients.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as a matter of good practice, whether or not that Act formally applies to a business of our size.
2. Personal information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact details: your name, email address, phone number, and street or project address.
- Enquiry and project information: details you provide about your cabinetry, wardrobe, kitchen or joinery project, including measurements, material preferences, and photos or images you submit for a quote or assessment.
- Project photos and videos we take: images and video we capture of a project (before, during and after work), which may show your home, property or installed cabinetry (see “Project photos and videos” below).
- Communications: records of emails, phone calls, and messages between you and Cabimate.
- Quote, invoice and payment records: if you engage us for a project, we collect billing details and records of quotes, invoices and payments (we do not process card payments directly through the website).
- Website usage information: general, non-identifying data about how visitors use our website (see “Cookies and analytics” below).
We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (such as health information) unless you volunteer it and it is directly relevant to a project (for example, an accessibility requirement for a wardrobe design).
3. How we collect personal information
- Directly from you, when you submit a contact or quote request form on our website, email or call us, or provide project details and photos in person or electronically.
- Automatically, through website analytics when you browse cabimate.com.au.
- From third parties where relevant to a project, for example a referral from another tradesperson, builder, or supplier acting on your behalf.
4. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, general device and browser type, and approximate location derived from IP address. This information is aggregated and is not used by us to identify you personally.
Google Analytics uses cookies and may transfer this data to, and store it on, servers located outside Australia (including the United States). Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using Google's browser add-on. Disabling cookies may affect how parts of our website function.
5. Why we collect, hold and use personal information
We collect and use personal information to:
- respond to enquiries and provide quotes for cabinetry, wardrobe, and joinery projects;
- design, schedule, deliver and manage projects, including coordinating installation and repairs;
- prepare and send invoices and manage payments for completed work;
- communicate with you about your enquiry or project;
- maintain business records for accounting, warranty and legal purposes; and
- understand and improve our website and services.
We do not use your personal information for unrelated marketing without your consent, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
6. Project photos and videos
As part of our work, we like to photograph and occasionally video projects (before, during and after installation) to showcase our work in our advertising and marketing materials, including our website and social media channels (such as Instagram and Facebook).
Where images or video would identify you, your home, or your property (rather than just the finished cabinetry itself), we will ask for your permission before we use them publicly, and you're welcome to let us know your preference at any point during your project. We will not publish identifying photos or video of you or your property without your consent.
If you have previously agreed to let us use images of your project and change your mind, contact us at info@cabimate.com.au and we will remove them from our website and social media pages where reasonably practicable (previously printed or shared material, such as material already shared or reposted by others, may not be able to be recalled).
7. Who we disclose personal information to
We may disclose personal information to:
- subcontractors, installers or suppliers where necessary to deliver your project (for example, sharing measurements or design details with a fabricator or installer);
- our IT, website hosting, and email service providers, who store or process information on our behalf;
- our accountant or bookkeeper, for invoicing and financial record-keeping;
- social media and advertising platforms (such as Meta/Instagram and Facebook), where you have consented to us publishing project photos or video; and
- a government authority or regulator, where required or authorised by law.
We do not otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
8. Overseas storage or disclosure
Some service providers we use, including Google Analytics, our website hosting or email providers, and social media platforms we may publish approved project photos or video to, may store or process data on servers located outside Australia (including the United States). Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to be handled in a manner consistent with this Policy.
9. Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including restricting access to information to those who need it to carry out their role, and using reputable, secured third-party platforms for email, file storage and business systems. No method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. How long we keep your information
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for, including any period required to meet our legal, accounting, warranty or dispute-resolution obligations. Enquiry and quote details for projects that do not proceed are generally kept for a reasonable period in case you return, and are deleted or de-identified when no longer needed. Project photos and video approved for advertising use are kept for as long as they remain useful for that purpose, or until you ask us to remove them.
11. Access, correction and complaints
You may ask us for access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by contacting us at info@cabimate.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time.
12. Children's privacy
Our website and services are directed at adults engaging residential cabinetry and joinery services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
